Rainbow Acanthophyllia
Description
Acanthophyllia, commonly known as meat or donut corals, are prized by aquarists for their vibrant colors and substantial, fleshy appearance. These large polyp stony corals (LPS) exhibit hues ranging from greenish-blue to striking reds and blues, with rare specimens displaying a full spectrum of rainbow colors. Their hardy nature allows them to thrive under a variety of tank conditions, making them suitable for both novice and experienced reef keepers. While generally non-aggressive, it's advisable to provide ample space between Acanthophyllia and other corals to prevent potential territorial disputes. Due to their unique beauty and limited availability, especially following export restrictions from regions like Indonesia, Acanthophyllia often command premium prices in the aquarium trade.
