Zebra Tang

Scientific Name: Acanthurus polyzona

The Zebra (Black-Barred) Tang is a small, pale tang with bold black vertical bars. It's found only in the southwest Indian Ocean around Mauritius, Réunion, and Madagascar, and it's difficult to collect, which is why it's so rarely seen. Approx. 3.5–4".

Why We're Obsessed

The Zebra Tang is one of the true rarities among tangs. It looks a bit like a Convict Tang, but with bolder bars and a much smaller natural range. Most reefers will never see one in person.

Care: Reef safe. Fairly peaceful for a tang and stays on the smaller side. Feed nori and seaweed daily plus frozen and pellet foods. Max size about 8". Minimum tank size: 100 gallons.
