Mata Tang

Scientific Name: Acanthurus mata

The Mata (Elongate) Tang is a slender blue-gray tang with fine yellow lines on the body and face. It changes shade from light to dark based on mood.

Why We're Obsessed

Mata Tangs are peaceful, open-water tangs that look great in schools. Big show-size ones are impressive.

Care: Reef safe and peaceful. Feeds on plankton in the wild; offer mysis, pellets, and seaweed. Needs lots of room. Max size about 20". Minimum tank size: 300+ gallons.
