Scientific Name: Holacanthus ciliaris × Holacanthus bermudensis (natural hybrid)

The Townsend Angel is a natural hybrid between a Queen Angel and a Blue Angel, found where their ranges overlap off Florida. Every one looks a little different, mixing the Queen's bright yellow with the Blue Angel's olive-blue tones.

Why We're Obsessed

It was originally described as its own species before scientists figured out it's actually a Queen x Blue cross, and that story never gets old. Natural hybrids like this don't come around often, and no two look the same.

Care: Not reef safe (eats sponges, corals, and inverts). Semi-aggressive. Feed sponge-based foods, mysis, and seaweed. Max size about 18". Minimum tank size: 180 gallons.
