Scientific Name: Diodon sp.

The Blue Pelagic Porcupine Puffer is a porcupinefish with a blue-tinted body and dark spots. Like all porcupines, it puffs up into a spiky ball when threatened.

Why We're Obsessed

Porcupine puffers have the most personality of any fish. They learn who feeds them and beg at the glass like a puppy. This blue pelagic form is less common than the regular Porcupine Puffer.

Care: Not reef safe: it eats shrimp, crabs, snails, and clams. Keep with larger, peaceful tankmates. Feed shell-on foods like clams and krill to keep its teeth trimmed. Max size about 12"+. Minimum tank size: 125 gallons.
