The Purple Tilefish is a slender, lavender-purple tilefish that hovers just above the sand and darts into its burrow when spooked.
Why We're Obsessed
That soft purple color is hard to find in any fish, and tilefish have a calm, graceful way of swimming that looks great in a peaceful reef.
Care: Reef safe and peaceful. Needs a sand bed and rubble to build a burrow, and a tight-fitting lid (tilefish jump). Keep with calm tankmates. Feed mysis and small pellets several times a day. Max size about 5". Minimum tank size: 75 gallons.
