Scientific Name: Pristigenys serrula
The Popeye Catalufa is a deep-red bigeye with huge eyes, a deep body, and fine scales. It's a nocturnal hunter from the eastern Pacific.
Why We're Obsessed
Those giant eyes and deep red color make it look like nothing else in the tank. It's an oddball we always love having around, and it's surprisingly calm.
Care: Peaceful but will eat small fish and shrimp. Prefers dim areas and caves; feed meaty foods like mysis, krill, and silversides. Max size about 12". Minimum tank size: 100 gallons.
