The Palani (Eyestripe) Surgeonfish is a large, elegant tang with a gold band behind the eye, fine blue lines across the body, a blue-spotted tail, and a white scalpel at the base of the tail.
Why We're Obsessed
Palanis grow into absolute units. A big adult cruising a large tank has crazy presence, and that gold eye stripe and the fine blue lines look amazing up close. A true big-tank showpiece most people never get to see in person.
Care: Reef safe. Semi-aggressive toward other tangs. Feed nori and seaweed daily plus frozen and pellet foods. Max size about 18". Minimum tank size: 250+ gallons.
