King (Passer) Angelfish
$399.99
Scientific Name: Holacanthus passer
The King (Passer) Angelfish comes from the Sea of Cortez. Adults are deep navy blue with a bold white vertical bar and orange-yellow tail; juveniles are orange with blue bars and change dramatically as they grow.
Why We're Obsessed
The King Angel has serious presence. It swims like it owns the tank, and the white bar on that dark body looks unreal under blue lights. Watching a juvenile morph into the adult coloring is one of the coolest transformations in the hobby.
Care: Not reef safe (eats corals and inverts). Aggressive; best as the only angel in a large FOWLR. Feed sponge-based foods, mysis, krill, and seaweed. Max size about 14". Minimum tank size: 180 gallons.
