The Keyhole Sand Dollar is a live, flat sand dollar from Florida and the Caribbean with six slot-shaped "keyholes" through its body. It buries just under the sand and slowly moves through the sand bed.
Why We're Obsessed
Most people have only seen the bleached shells on the beach. Seeing a live one plowing through the sand is a cool, unusual addition to a cleanup crew.
Care: Reef safe. Needs a fine, deep sand bed (2"+) in a mature tank with plenty of detritus to eat. Not a good fit for brand-new tanks. Avoid copper.
