Gem Tang

Scientific Name: Zebrasoma gemmatum

The Gem Tang is a deep blue-black tang covered in white spots, with a bright yellow tail. It's found mainly around Mauritius and the southwest Indian Ocean.

Why We're Obsessed

The Gem is one of the most sought-after tangs in the world. It has the same body shape as a Yellow or Purple Tang, but with a starry, spotted look that's completely its own. Getting one in is always a big deal for us.

Care: Reef safe. Semi-aggressive toward other Zebrasoma. Feed nori and seaweed daily plus frozen and pellet foods. Max size about 9". Minimum tank size: 125 gallons.
